Some of you reading this have a great sense of direction. I do not. God blessed me with a wife who can read a map incredibly well. If you were to ask me which direction I am heading, I would have no idea. I have found that if I am following someone to a place, I have no idea how I have gotten there. If I drive that way myself, I am much more apt to remember how I got there. It is nice to be able to find a way that is simple and direct when traveling.
Recently we made a trip to upstate New York. Most of the trip was on one main road. It was a pleasure not to be watching the map or the GPS al the time to see when the next turn was coming. I have found that life contains a great deal of turns and adjustments. It does not seem very often that everything goes “according to the plan.” I was teasing with one of my friends in church the other day about my “comfort zone.” I told him that in the past I left my comfort zone but would visit it periodically. I then told him that I haven’t seen my comfort zone for quite a while at this point.
Today I read a comforting verse that I want to share with those of you who can relate to that last statement. “Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face” (Psalm 5:8). I want to encourage you today. God has a way. His way is straight. His way is right in front of your face. Having said that, don’t miss the beginning of the verse. We need to be led to this place. It is not natural, and you will not find it on a map, or in a GPS.
It is comforting to me to know that God has a perfect plan for my life. He has a straight path that He has designed, just for me. He has a perfect plan that He has designed just for you as well. The challenge for me has always been staying in the center of that path. I am comforted to know that God wants me to be in that path even more than I do. He is doing all He can to help me choose the right path to walk. He has given me a compilation of sixty-six incredible books. Divinely inspired and without error. These books each have a unique, but unified message that are designed to help me stay on the path God has for my life. My Bible has become my most trusted guide for life. I have found principles and guidelines all throughout the Scriptures that have helped me along my journey in this life. When I have veered off the path, I can see in the Bible why I did, and where it happened. Today I want to stay on the straight path God has for me. With His help we can walk on the straight path today!
