We Christians make the mistake of forgetting how much God loves us and cares for us on a daily basis. The older I become, the more I think I appreciate this care that I see God taking of me and our family. This is not to say that we do not have our problems, because we certainly do; but it is so comforting to know that we are never alone. Today I read a great chapter that I would recommend you take time to read in its entirety. Psalm 138 has more great verses in it than you can imagine.

The verse that I have chosen to write about today (leaving out many other wonderful verses) is Psalm 138:7. “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.” Jesus promised His disciples that in this world there would be tribulations. While that doesn’t sound like a great promise, it is absolute truth. He continued in John 16:33 to say that we should not worry about the tribulation, because He has ultimately triumphed over the world!

I am so thankful that the Friend that sticks closer than a brother to me is none other than Jesus Christ. When I feel lonely, or I feel that hopelessness creeping up on me, I simply remember these kinds of verses, and I make a conscious effort to lean into the Master. The person closest to me here on this earth is my wife. I have had to go to meetings (very infrequently) by myself, while she had other obligations at different times in our years of ministry. Whenever that happens, I feel like a part of me is missing. When she is by my side, I have told her that I feel that I can accomplish much more.

She is a source of strength and encouragement to me; however, there are limitations to her time and abilities. I am so thankful today that when I am walking through any trouble in my life, that I have a Holy Spirit within me Who revives me … raises His hand against my enemy … and saves me by His right hand! WOW! That is a phenomenal truth to wrap your mind around today! In a world where so many are so desperately searching for hope and help in drugs, money, sex, education, and fame, it is important that you and I live a vivid testimony of intimacy with our Savior. The relationship that everyone you meet today yearns for is this relationship with God. It is only possible by knowing Jesus. It comes only through salvation. Please let someone know today that they never need to experience being alone again!
