There is not a day that passes that I do not need to call on my Heavenly Father, not only for help, but for “extra” help. Some days we might feel that we need it more than others, but the reality is that a firm dependence on God is a sign of spirituality. We have within us a sin nature that battles the influence of God’s Holy Spirit within us. We live in a strange world full of enemies to our faith. We have opportunities to fall to temptations at every turn. We make multiple decisions each step of our day that can lead us to success or failure in our walk with God.
Where will we find the wisdom and help we need for this day we are in right now, and for tomorrow, and the next day? The answer (as always) is in our Bible. “Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man. Through God we shall do valiantly: for He it is that shall tread down our enemies” (Psalm 60:11).
There is a God in Heaven Who desires to guide us with His eye. He knows the right way we should take, and if we will yield to Him on a consistent and daily basis, He will make His way clear to us. There is so much in our Bible that speaks of God’s desire to care for us in our normal lives. Why do you think we find it so strange that the “little” things we are facing are important to our God? He has fashioned us to make a difference in this world we are living, and the details of our lives are important to Him.
The question today is not if God is interested in what we are facing … the question is if we are willing to stop our busy scurrying about to listen to the “still small voice” that lives within every believer. He had placed His precious Holy Spirit within us. I believe the Holy Spirit spends a great deal of time just knocking on our hearts, minds, and consciences to help us make the right choices throughout our days. Please take time today to really stop what you are doing and ask God to give you the wisdom in your choices today. Ask Him to give you the ability to choose well in the cross-roads of life you will intersect today. I believe we serve a great God Who deserves to hold the steering-wheel of our lives without any tugging to the side from us. He is the One that can give you the help you so desperately need for the day. Surrender fully to His will for your life today. I know it’s not easy, but it’s worth it!
