“I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered” (Psalm 40:1-5).
Take the time and read through those verses one more time. That is a great description of our incredible God! Now think about where you were before you entered into a personal relationship with Him. The description above is so perfect to describe where we were. We were in a horrible pit. We were in the miry clay. We were aimless in our lives, wandering about with no sense of direction or idea of where we would end up. And then we met the Master!
He took us from our pitiful condition and set our feet upon a rock. He established our going. He changed everything for us! He gave us a divine and eternal purpose for living! With His help, we now have a song to sing. We have praises to raise to Him. We have these things, but let me ask if you are using these things we have for His glory? Do you sing the songs at church in praise to Him, or do you simply go through the motions in order to get to the next part of the service? Are you using your days in such a way as to bring glory to His name, or are you living for yourself, and to bring glory to you?
Today is a good day to so some spiritual inventory. Consider where you were before you met Jesus Christ, and then look at where you are since you met Jesus. Our lives have been completely transformed! If all you considered was the difference between knowing that your eternal destiny changed from certain Hell to a very certain Heaven; you would have enough to praise Him for for eternity itself!
We have been blessed with so much more than just Heaven (which is hard to believe). We have an indwelling Holy Spirit Who guides us into the truths of the Word of God. We have a Bible to read in our own language to help us to know how to live. Take some time today to praise God!
