What a great verse to start your day … “Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like Me” (Isaiah 46:9).  Do I need to say anything more?  I don’t … that sums up all that I need to tell you today.  Think about it for a bit.  We are living in a world that tells us that they have all the answers we need, and yet the problems of people continue and seem to become larger every day!  This world does not have the answer.  The reason is that the world refuses to acknowledge and honor our God!

Earlier in this chapter the comparison is made between the world’s gods, and God Himself.  Isaiah pointed out that these idols must be made.  These gods must be carried to the place that the people want to put them to be worshipped.  We see people doing this all around us today with their gods.  Men and women construct their own gods out of material things like a house, a car, a job, or even clothing.  Sometimes I see people worshipping whales, and trees, and the moon, and _______________ (fill in the blank).  How sad it is to see these counterfeits trying to replicate and fulfill the desires of the hearts of people today.  They cannot … they are not God!

In contrast to this behavior, let it be known that our God does not need us to “make” Him.  Idols were typically made from wood, stone, or brass.  Some craftsman needed to carve, hone, or form these idols.  Skill is needed in most cases, but the manufacturing is required nonetheless.  God did not need to be made!  He was not made … He has always been!  What a joy to know that we serve a God that has no expiration date!  We serve a God that cannot be destroyed by flood waters, or hurricanes, or earthquakes.  As a matter of fact, our God controls all those things, and HE made them!  Our God does not need to be “carried” from one place to the place where we need Him.  Our God is everywhere, all the time, and has no limits of space or time!  Go ahead … look back to the “former things of old.”  You will see God actively working in times past.  Go ahead … look for His equal.  You will never find that if you searched your whole life.  As Isaiah wrote here, “there is none else … there is none like” Him!  He is unique, and He is God!  There is no other god that compares or even comes close to Him!  Having said all this today; don’t you think it is time that we began to honor God in the way He deserves?  It’s time for us to trust His Word, not question and challenge it.  It’s time for us to go to Him in prayer for our needs, not our friends, or even pastor.  There is no other God but God!  It is time to serve Him and love Him with all your heart, because there is “none else!”
