March 21

One of the most frustrating things to me today is to have someone promise me something, and then fail to come through when the time comes. I have purchased numerous things that had guarantees. Our son purchased a car a few years ago. We purchased the extended warrantee for the car because it had some fancy features and it also had a few years on it. The salespeople told us that everything was covered, except for belts and tires. Within one week of the purchase, the transmission failed. When we went to get the transmission fixed, the people at the car lot said that it was not covered!

I am so thankful that God does not operate that way! When God makes a promise, it will certainly happen exactly as He said it would. Today I read, “For the king trusteth in the LORD, and through the mercy of the Most High he shall not be moved” (Psalm 21:7). When we depend upon the promises of God, and we follow the truths of Scripture, we can be sure that God will do exactly what He said He would do. I want to be like the king described in this verse. I want to stand firmly on what the Lord has said He would do and accomplish great things for Him.

Think about it for a few moments today … everything around us is changing. Thoughts of a peaceful nation have been disrupted with unrest and threats of trouble. Financial stability is a thing of the past as we have seen 401K programs disintegrate. Politicians change places all the time, as well as changing their pre-election promises. Churches are changing their names to fit into the demographics of the day. Gas prices … well, you know.

In an ever-changing world, I am so thankful that I can trust in the Lord. I am fully confident that He will not change! This is one reason I love the Bible. I am sure that it is never-changing, and is a constant source of help, challenge, and encouragement. I am sure that when I open it every morning and read it, that I will find help and guidance for my day. I don’t need to worry that an empty promise has been made in the Bible. Every promise there has the backing of an all-powerful God!

Today, as this world continues to change, stand firm on the never-changing promises of God! Be like the king who trusts in the Lord. I am reminded of I Corinthians 15:58 … “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” Stand firm in the confidence of your God’s ability to take care of you!
