October 22

I want to begin today by giving an advertisement for reading your Bible every day.  For many years I have read the Bible in four/five different sections.  I read one chapter each day of the work week from these sections of Scripture: Genesis – II Chronicles / Ezra – Malachi (excluding Psalms and Proverbs) / Psalms / Proverbs / Matthew – Revelation.  I have done this to give a variety to my reading.  I have done it to allow me to have an overview of the entire Bible each day.  What I did not expect, but what has become a rich blessing, is how I can see the truths of Scripture from one end to the other dovetail together with the truths they teach.  It happened again today.

I read … “Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge, That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth: that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee” (Proverbs 22:20-21)?  I then turned to the New Testament and read about the apostles … “And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name.  And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ” (Acts 5:41-42).

The message that is clear from the Old Testament and the New Testament is that God will give us a message to share, and He expects us to share it!  We have a message that is timeless.  God made man for fellowship with him, and we have turned our back on Him.  He then sent His Son into the world to pay the price to redeem us from that sin and give us an opportunity to love and serve Him.  Once we have received that message, God wants us to tell other people about it, so that more can come into restored fellowship with Him.

When was the last time you spoke up for Jesus Christ?  God has given us all the answers we need to the sin problem of those around us.  He has made the Gospel simple enough for children to understand, and He simply desires that we will tell others what we have learned.  The message is clear … the message is simple … why don’t we give more attention to sharing that message with others?  It is obvious from both Old and New Testament passages that God’s plan for reaching the world is for His children to speak up! Look for opportunities today to share this timeless message with someone today.  God will direct your steps … He just wants you to speak up!
